Stylish rental apartments are pretty awesome. And the website Airbnb offers these beautiful places in up to 192 countries. Gorgeous interiors are showcased in their cleverly app. The apartments are divided into topics as popular, top40, playful stays, private islands etc. Great for finding your holiday rental or just get interior inspiration.

It’s been a while since she updated her website, but that doesn’t mean her artwork is worth less attention. The Dutch artist Henriëtte van ‘t Hoog (1943) created this colorful work in a boring empty room in IJmuiden, The Netherlands in 2007.

What to show first? Designer slash artist Haley Ann has made so many gorgeous things, i like them piece by piece. Above items were made for Totokaelo, a webshop with art objects. But there is more!

Haley Ann is a graphic designer & illustrator located in the hills of Echo Park in Los Angeles, CA. She is heavily influenced by color, nature, geometry, and the possibilities of 3-dimensional shape. More info can be found at her website. For here, just watch.

Places project

The Germans probably have a thing for interior. Freunde von Freunden is a Berlin based website with the most gorgeous photographs of interior of creative minds, Places Project is a smaller concept by Svenja Paulsen who focuses on interior of cafes, restaurants, market stalls etc.

Svenja Paulsen is a food and lifestyle photographer from Berlin, Germany. The Places Project is a selected collection of places that are special in their own culinary way. These places should invite and inspire.

The Places Project has only two series available online, but we are very curious about what is coming next. Her sharp and detailed photography is promising.

Polaroid artist

Film and polaroid are the specialties of Swedish photographer Annette Pehrsson. This 23 year old artist mainly focuses on analogue photography.

Pehrsson published two books with her polaroids via Blurb. The link to her books can be found on her blog. She also has a shop with her prints.

Even if you don’t have any affinity with skateboards, these gorgeous cruisers make you want one! The great design is not surprising knowing that the Atypical boards are manufactured in Italy.

Each cruiser is handmade and unique, made from the best solid ash wood inspired by 60’s and 70’s style. The boards are available for €165,00.

Pastel deserts

London based photographer David Ryle shot a beautiful project of the Mojave desert. The images are the result of time David spent in the Mojave Desert, where he conducted an topographical study of the mountains and desert roads.

David Ryle, born in 1978, is a photographer living and working from London. His work has been used for both editorial and advertising campaigns as well being as exhibited in various galleries. This year his images have been selected for both the AoP Awards and The Creative Review Photography Annual. Within his work he explores the notion of space and the human relationship with our surroundings, often he is drawn to the idea of nothingness, shooting the redundant space between two territories. Last October the Desert Studies project was awarded Best In Category last night at the AOP Awards.

For many woman magazines are sacred. It’s a girls dream to create one of your own and write about everything you love. This dream came true for the Brittish talent Helen Martin. Her dream was to make a magazine and she just did. Lionheart magazine is the result and issue 3 is recently published.

“Lionheart Magazine is a magazine for those looking for something that reflects their personalities and preferences. Editorial that’s smart, funny, friendly and a little irreverent, together with beautiful design, illustrations and photography. You’ll find craft, fashion, art, interviews and features that are interesting, inspiring and hearty.”

The makers project

In 2010 the photographer Jennifer Causey started The Makers Project. This project gives us a peek into the lives of creative entrepreneurs from Brooklyn. Great photography and extraordinary professions show us what Brooklyn has to offer. A collection of photographs that detail the people behind the products in combination with quick interviews.

This fall The Makers Project has been published into a book named Brooklyn Makers. This book is now available at among other Amazon and they describe the book as follows:

“A creative renaissance blooms in Brooklyn. At its heart is a thriving community of artisans producing a remarkable variety of handmade goods. Todd Selby is in Amsterdam

On November 1, 2012 Todd Selby will be coming to Amsterdam to sign his new book Edible Selby. He will be signing in The American Book Center (Spui 12) from 7pm – 9pm.

Todd Selby is a photographer and illustrator and author of the books The Selby is in your place and Edible Selby. In his books he photographs creative people and creative spaces from all over the world. “The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist’s eye for detail. The Selby began in June 2008 as a website, theselby.com, where Todd posted photo shoots he did of his friends in their homes. Requests quickly began coming in daily from viewers all over the world who wanted their homes to be featured on the site.”

Via The Jealous Curator and Art Hound I found the recently graduated textile designer Anna Duthie. She graduated from Glasgow School of Art and has been specialising in embroidery for fashion. On her website we can read that her work reflects an appreciation of pattern, surface embellishment, contrasting textures and colour. Chapeau!

The eyes of war photo exhibition

The eyes of war is an exhibition by photographer Martin Roemers held in The Netherlands until August 26. The serie is displaying the aftermath of war featuring portraits of fourty blind casualties of war from The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, England, Russia and Ukraine. Many of them are hit by munitions left behind from World War II. The personal stories in addition to the portraits in the exhibition demonstrate the absurdity of the circumstances and the inability of the subjects when disaster strikes.

The exhibition can be seen at De Kunsthal in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Austin, Texas USA brings us photographer Davis Ayer. He still shoots all his photographs analogue and describes himself as a light chaser, which explains when you see his portfolio.

In 2011, Lomography.com interviewd Davis Ayer. He tells us why he still shoots analogue:

“The photography and art that I’ve always been attracted to was analogue, even before I knew anything about photography. I think the idea that digital photography will over take film photography is wrong because they’re different things. I have no problems with chopping up pictures and manipulating digital images, but I have more respect for film.. Film just looks better to me. Film is so much more dynamic. I think that analogue makes you a better photographer. Shooting film forces you to be patient, and really learn what you want in the frame. Also, there’s something interesting about anticipation (waiting for film to be processed).”

German photographer Franziska Ostermann contacted me because she would like to be featured on my website. She asked me if I sometimes consider showing work of young artists. Yes, I do! I love receiving feature-requests and I would love to give young artists a platform.

So meet the 19 year old photographer from Germany. She already has been featured on several websites including Get inspired magazine where she tells about her photography.

“Photography for me is the medium to express what’s inside of me and to tell people a story that they wouldn’t understand if you just told them. The language of images is very special and unique, like everybody may interpret a photograph differently. But the main idea, that’s what I like to transport through it. Giving an impulse to think and reflect themselves, the world. I’m in the middle of my last year of school and going to write my Abitur soon. Nevertheless, I always try to establish photography in my life and take pictures whenever I have a second left and an idea on my mind.”
